State of Journalism

Just to expand on some of my del.icio.us links:

Earlier this week Jeff Jarvis came out with ten points that any news organisation needs to be thinking about - and I think he got them pretty much right.
Video of his speech at the Guardian's internal Future of Journalism conference is here. (But not embeddable, which is ironic).

And then the New York Times ran a piece about Google News which has three interesting points: they aren't growing very much, they allegedly have a sense of responsibility towards the news organisations whose content they aggregate ("Google feels “a huge moral imperative” to help news outlets be successful online."), and they are now in 20 languages and 43 countries. Who knew.

Onwards and Upwards....
