Flash Storytelling

A close look at my recent links would reveal a growing interest in the use of Flash to tell stories or support multimedia journalism. It can be incredibly powerful. Try these:

It's probably reasonable to ask if this is what the public wants. But whether it is or not, I'm going down the "teach yourself flash" route to see what happens...

Let me know of others you like.

Why Design?

I've written before about how much I love the TED videocasts. This one is brilliant - it's French designer Philippe Starck talking about, well, I'm not sure what the subject is really - but it's fantastic.

Earlier this year I met Chris Anderson who runs TED - and it turns out we were on the same local paper together a few decades ago. I suspect he's having more fun...

Farewell friends...

P9050089

For the last few months those of us who walk across Waterloo Bridge have been silently watched by a band of Gormleys - placed high up on the buildings around the bridge on both sides of the river. There to promote the Antony Gormley exhibition at the Hayward Gallery (which I have foolishly missed). Enigmatic, mysterious, even charismatic they've become welcome companions to commuters. Altogether there were about thirty of them, on the top of high rises, the National Theatre, and far across the river. Every so often you would peer up and spot yet another on a distant office block standing vigil. Now we seem to be down to two as the exhibition runs down and soon I guess they will go as well. Shame, I'll miss them.
